How Saveback works
With Saveback, Trade Republic invests part of your card spending for you instead of paying it back as cashback. According to the Trade Republic help centre (September 2026):
- Amount
- 1% of eligible card payments made from your cash balance, capped at €15 a month, reached at €1,500 of spending. Paying with crypto earns 2%, with a total cap of €30 a month.
- Condition
- At least €50 a month in savings plans, run weekly, every two weeks or monthly. Quarterly plans do not count. The €50 can be spread over several plans.
- Timing
- A month's Saveback is invested on the 2nd day of the following month, or the next business day, if the condition is met. Otherwise it expires. In the export, the credit is dated the 1st of the month.
- Excluded
- Among others: cash withdrawals, top-ups of accounts such as PayPal or Curve, transfers, gambling and security purchases (full list).
The conditions change from time to time: Trade Republic's own page always takes precedence.
Where can I see my Saveback?
The app shows each credit and the purchases of your savings plan. For an analysis over many months, with rate, cap and missed months, the CSV export is a better fit: it contains every card payment, every Saveback credit and every purchase. That is what NokxiStats calculates from.
What NokxiStats calculates
- Saveback received over the whole period, each credit matched to its spending month (the month before).
- Effective rate: Saveback received divided by the card payments of the months concerned. Below 1% means you went over the cap or had months without a credit.
- Smoothed average per month and per year, over all months with card payments.
- Cap reached: the months in which your spending exceeded €1,500.
- Not paid: months with card payments but no Saveback, with an estimate of what 1% would have given. Usually the savings plan condition was not met.
- Value today: each credit is matched to the purchase that follows it and valued at the current price, so you see what your Saveback has become on the market.
A worked example
A made-up example over three months:
- January: €1,800 of card payments, but the savings plan condition is not met: no Saveback, the possible €15 expire.
- February: €900 of card payments, plan executed: €9 of Saveback, invested early March.
- March: €1,600 of card payments, plan executed: €15 (cap reached), invested early April.
€4,300 of card payments earned €24 of Saveback: an effective rate of 0.56% instead of the advertised 1%. Not paid: €15 in January. On average €8 a month, about €96 a year, before the shares go up or down.
How to analyse your Saveback
- Download your transactions as a CSV file (how to export from the app or the browser), ideally covering everything since your first card payment.
- Drop the file above, or try the sample data first.
- The Saveback tab opens: a month-by-month chart, a table of spending, Saveback, rate and what was possible, then the shares bought with your Saveback.
Where your card money goes: see Spending by category. How the shares you bought are doing: see Portfolio performance.
Limits
- The estimate for unpaid months assumes 1% and €15. NokxiStats does not yet tell crypto payments (2%) apart.
- The export does not say which payments are eligible: NokxiStats counts every card payment except cash withdrawals. Top-ups such as PayPal can therefore lower the rate slightly.
- Saveback is an investment exposed to market prices, not a guaranteed amount: its value today can be lower than what was credited.
Frequently asked questions
Why did I get no Saveback one month?
Usually because the savings plan condition was not met: less than €50 in the calendar month, for example after pausing a plan, or only a quarterly plan. The Saveback then expires.
From what level of spending does Saveback stop increasing?
From €1,500 of card payments from your cash balance in a month, the €15 cap is reached: each extra euro earns no more Saveback.
Is Saveback taxed?
This page gives no tax advice. Refer to Trade Republic's documents and, if in doubt, to a tax adviser.
Do you need my login details?
No. You download the export yourself, and the analysis runs in your browser, with no account.
